Low Back Pain & Sciatica

Low back pain is immensely common, in some cases it can be an annoyance, in others it is debilitating. Pain may radiate into the back or front of the hip. It may even radiate as far as the leg. Where pain radiates from the low back down the leg, it is often referred to as sciatica. This may indicate some irritation or compression of the nerves that extend from the back into the leg.

Osteopathic assessment of low back pain and sciatica begins with a thorough case history to identify what is causing the pain and how it is impacting on your lifestyle and work practices. Practical suggestions will be made to help get you through this painful time. A thorough assessment of posture and movement will be conducted, not only of the low back but the surrounding joints and muscles and even the body as a whole. This is how we come to conclusions about what is causing your pain and how we can do something to help. Samuel will help you to understand what is hurting you, why it hurts and what you can do to help yourself.

Osteopathic treatment will begin at the first appointment in the majority of cases.
