Shockwave therapy

For chronic musculoskeletal problems, shoulder pain, tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis and more.

Shockwave therapy is also known as extra-corporeal shockwave therapy or ESWT. It is an evidence-based treatment that is recommended for a range of chronic musculoskeletal problems - often when they have not responded to more common therapies like exercise and massage or manipulation.

Shockwave is a safe and effective supplement to rehabilitation. It can be used for the following conditions:

  • Plantar fasciitis (pain at the heel and sole of the foot)

  • Achilles tendinopathy (heel tendon pain)

  • Tennis Elbow

  • Trochanteric bursitis (pain at the side of the hip)

  • Patella tendinopathy (knee tendon pain)

  • Tendonitis of the shoulder

After a standard initial appointment, shockwave can be offered as a stand alone treatment or added to osteopathic care. Dedicated shockwave sessions last 20 minutes (£40). Shockwave can be integrated in an osteopathy session for an additional £20.
